The Junior boys’ basketball team got the opportunity to attend a BNZ Court of Dreams experience at the New Zealand Breakers final game of the season vs the Hawks. On arrival to Spark arena, we were given early access to the stadium where we could watch the teams prepare for their game and a chance to eat some food that was provided for us. As game time approached, we received our health and safety briefing from the event staff then it was game time. 

Our Rutherford College team played in a pre-match friendly game with Huanui College from the far north who had travelled down earlier in the day. It was a competitive match up with some great highlights.

 Following this game all the players got to be a part of the main event by welcoming each Breakers player on to the court as they were announced to the Spark arena audience. 

Then we all took our seats court side, there were beanbags to sit on and being so close to the action led to some fun interactions with the players as the game was played. 

At the end of the game, we got to meet some of the players and get photos. It was a great experience to see up close how top-level athletes prepare and conduct themselves and fun time playing a game in front of lots of people.
