Connor Steel has had an impressive year in wrestling
Connor Steel has had an impressive year in wrestling, with outstanding performances in several competitions across New Zealand.
He claimed 1st place in the junior division at the Auckland Secondary Schools Championships, a fantastic achievement that set the tone for his season.
Connor continued his impressive run at the Bay of Plenty Championships, earning 2nd place in the U17 92kg weight class, and followed this up with another 2nd place finish at the North Island Championships in the same category.
Now, Connor is heading to Australia as a member of the New Zealand Development Squad, where he will compete at the Australian National Championships in the U17 division. We wish him all the best as he takes on this exciting international challenge.
Looking ahead, Connor will return in August to represent Rutherford College at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Nationals.
Congratulations, Connor, on an incredible season so far — and good luck for what’s to come.
