Our centre was privileged to attend the national ACE Conference in Ōtautahi/Christchurch, a powerful gathering of minds and perspectives. The event was guided by the inspiring theme: “Bridging AI(Artificial Intelligence) with AI (Ancestral Intelligence).”
This kaupapa explored the intersections between cutting-edge technology and Indigenous knowledge systems, prompting deep reflection on how artificial intelligence can be weaved harmoniously with ancestral wisdom. It was an opportunity to engage in meaningful kōrero, share ideas, and consider a future where innovation and tradition walk side by side.
We just learnt that another type of AI is "Auntie Intelligence". It speaks to the lived wisdom, care, humour, and intuition often embodied by our aunties — those mentors and everyday leaders who guide us with heart and practical knowledge. At the conference, this concept challenged us to consider how technology, particularly artificial intelligence, can reflect the values of care, community, and wisdom.
We are grateful to have been part of such a significant and thought-provoking event, and we look forward to continuing this dialogue in our mahi, with our ākonga/learners and kaiako/tutors.
