A significant part of the annual Scholars' Assembly are our musical items performed by our talented akonga. It is one of the highlights of our NCEA Music calendar especially for our Year 13 Musicians. A performance opportunity for them and a chance to serve and give back to the Music Department. Congratulations to all our performers!
As whanau and students filed in to the school hall Lydia Mathew performed a few of her solo pieces on the piano. The assembly began with our powerful roopu Te Kotuku and the 2025 Prefects singing our school waiata. A big thank you to Mr Tagaloa, Liu Joe and Jin Na for filling in at the last minute to accompany these two groups.
We were treated to a clarinet solo "Summer" from the Victorian Garden Suite by Paul Reade, performed by Charlotte Marriott.
The next feature item was Stand Tall from the Netflix series Julie and the Phantoms performed by Blessing Auva'a, Jay Dennis, Reuben Dempsey, Bomin Kim, Lui Joe, Jin Na and Aloima Taumataga. It is an empowering and uplifting song celebrating resilience and self confidence. An encouragement to our akonga to face challenges head-on and embrace their unique qualities.
To end the celebration of academic success, Dylan Chapman, Jay Dennis, Reuben Dempsey and Max RobbMarkham performed a high-energy and catchy punk track called Drink by Destroy Boys.
