Filipino Cultural game during International Languages Week

Filipino Cultural game during International Languages Week

During the International Languages and Culture Week a Filipino group hosted a Classic Party Games Activity

Mabuhay!!

On the 9th June, during the International Languages and Culture Week, a Filipino group hosted a Classic Party Games activity to share a part of Filipino Culture with others. We wanted others to experience how fun and welcoming Filipino gatherings can be through traditional games that most Filipinos grew up playing in parties.

We played one of the classic games that Filipinos usually play in celebration parties, called “Stop Dance.” Stop dance is a game with chairs. Players dance around a circle of chairs while music is being played. When the music suddenly stops, everyone must quickly find a chair to sit on. The player who is left without a chair is out of the game. After each round, one chair is removed until only one chair is left.

Throughout the event, participants joined in the game, learned about their cultural significance, and enjoyed a friendly competition with one another. It was heartwarming to see that other cultures wanted to experience and learn how we Filipinos play.
