The Rutherford College First XI Girls Produced an Outstanding Week of Football

The Rutherford College First XI Girls produced an outstanding week of football at Sports Week, earning a bronze medal and finishing third at the national tournament. 

Across eight matches, the team scored an impressive 28 goals while conceding only three. The girls played some excellent football throughout the tournament, combining attacking flair with disciplined and determined defending. 

Their impressive run came to an end in a closely contested semifinal in which little seemed to go their way. Despite the disappointment, the girls responded with great character and secured a third place, a fantastic achievement at a national tournament. 

Sports Week was about much more than just the results. From the ice baths and recovery sessions to the team banter, shared meals and celebrations, the girls made plenty of memories and thoroughly enjoyed their time together. Their strong connection off the field was reflected in the way they supported one another throughout the week. 

We would also like to thank Sasha, Chloe, Lola, Indy, Indi and Ashley for their service and commitment to First XI Girls Football. They have each contributed enormously to the team and will be missed more than they know. We wish them all the very best for whatever comes next. 

A huge thank you must also go to all the parents and supporters who helped throughout the week or travelled to support the team from the sidelines. Your time, encouragement and continued support meant a great deal to the players and staff and contributed greatly to such a memorable week. 

The girls worked incredibly hard throughout a demanding week and should be extremely proud of what they achieved. We are very proud of how they represented Rutherford College and themselves.
