Our boys Squash Team competed in the last One Day Tournament of the year for Division 2
Last week our boys squash team competed in the last One Day Tournament of the year for Division 2. The boys played very well winning 2 of their matches and coming up against Green Bay 1 in the final. This was an exciting and close match.
Max RobbMarkam played first: he lost the first game, then fought back to a sudden death tie breaker in the second game. Which he won. The third game also went to a sudden death tie breaker with Max again keeping his composure and winning the deciding point, making the game score 2-1 to Rutherford. Max then pulled ahead and won the final game convincingly lead giving Rutherford a 3-1 win.
The second player Blake Blundell Herd played the top player from Green Bay who was a strong graded opponent. In spite of doing his best, playing his shots and working the rallies, Blake lost the match 3-0. This meant the teams were now tied at 1 match each leaving the deciding match to be played by Jeremy Lyon. Jeremy has been improving his squash this season, focusing on his serves and hitting the ball to a position in the court that makes it hard for the other player to return. Jeremy played to the best of his ability but the Green Bay player was stronger on the day.
Rutherford finished in 2nd place. A great result to finish the season.
The other team players were Harrison Robb and Alex Sandy who both won their matches in the earlier games.
