Cameron Deo has had an exciting start to his tournament year!
He kicked things off in West Auckland round-robin competition, competing in Kata.
He faced a tough division and ended up taking home a bronze medal. Not long after, he competed in the South Auckland event where he went one better earning a silver medal.
Next up was the West Auckland kumite, where he once again had a strong showing in a competitive field and secured another bronze. Just a week later, he entered the South Auckland round-robin kumite.
This time, there were even more competitors, and although Cameron performed well, he narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth. Most recently, on July 27th, Cameron competed in the Auckland Secondary Schools Tournament. Recognizing his progress, he was moved up into the junior black belt open division, a tougher category.
Despite the increased competition, he managed a silver medal in kata and a bronze in kumite. Thanks to his consistent performance, Cameron has earned himself a well-deserved spot at the New Zealand Nationals this October.
Congratulations Cameron
