Auckland Secondary Schools Athletics Championships – Mt Smart Stadium

On Tuesday, March 18th, and Thursday March 20th, 29 students from Rutherford College participated in the Auckland Secondary Schools Athletics Championships held at Mt Smart Stadium. 

Qualifying for this event was a significant achievement, as the event had top athletes from schools across Auckland participating. Our students competed in both track and field events.

Despite facing strong opponents, they gave their very best. We are incredibly proud of their effort. 

A standout performance came from Amy Thomson, who earned a spot on the podium by finishing 1st in both the 3000m and steeplechase. As a result of her outstanding performance, Amy has been selected for the Auckland Intermediate Girls Auckland Athletics Team. She will represent the region at the upcoming NISS Athletics Championships at Porritt Stadium in Hamilton on Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6.
