Harry Donald recently attended the New Zealand Brass Band National Championships in Wellington as a member of Waitakere Brass.
They performed twice at the Michael Fowler centre playing three pieces including a highly technical test piece, a sacred item (hymn) and a piece chosen by the band. There are four divisions plus a youth section.
Waitakere Brass is in the top division but has some rebuilding to do coming in at 6=place alongside Auckland Brass.
Harry plays the E flat Bass (tuba) and is one of the handful of school students in the band. Harry is looking forward to what the competition brings next year in Invercargill.
