Help Rutherford College save our pool for future generations

Rutherford College has launched an exciting initiative to upgrade its school pool, with plans to transform the space into a safe, welcoming facility for both students and the wider community.

The project will include replacing the current plumbing, installing shaded seating, adding a pool cover, upgrading changing rooms, and creating a vibrant community mural around the pool area. Together, these improvements will create a functional and inviting environment that supports both learning and recreation.

Once the upgrade is complete, the school hopes to open the pool to the community during weekends and school holidays, with qualified lifeguards on duty. Local residents will be able to enjoy the facility for a gold coin donation, helping make it an accessible and affordable space for families across the peninsula.

School leaders say the project is about far more than simply refurbishing a pool. It aims to strengthen water safety education, support physical education and active lifestyles, and create a safe local space where families and young people can gather and stay active.

To bring the vision to life, Rutherford College is aiming to raise $100,000 to fund the next stage of development. Community donations will directly contribute to elements of the project, including seating, plumbing upgrades, shade coverage, and the pool cover, as well as the larger improvements planned for the space.

The school hopes the upgraded pool will become a community hub, benefiting both current students and future generations while helping ensure young people develop essential swimming and lifesaving skills.
