Music Extravaganza 2025

Music Extravaganza 2025

We held our very first Music Extravaganza Concert on Friday 28th November in the school hall. An evening to celebrate and showcase the talent, commitment, and community spirit that define our Music Department. The evening showcased a vibrant lineup of our music ensembles, including the Concert Band led by Mrs Marriott, Jazz Band led by J.Y. Lee, Choir led by Mr Allison-Maxwell, Violin duet, String Quartet and a Saxophone Quartet, each delivering polished and engaging performances.

A highlight of the night was the collaboration with students from Te Atatu Intermediate School, who joined the Rutherford College Concert Band. Their participation not only enriched the musical experience but also strengthened the connection between our school and the wider community, offering younger musicians a meaningful glimpse into the opportunities awaiting them in secondary school music.

The concert drew an outstanding community turnout, filling the auditorium with enthusiastic supporters—whānau, friends, staff, and local residents. Their presence created an uplifting atmosphere and affirmed the strong role that music plays in bringing people together.

Overall, it was a wonderful reflection of the creativity, dedication, and collaborative spirit within the department. Thank you to Mrs Antonina Marriott, Mr Allison-Maxwell, J.Y Lee and Mrs Boyack for leading our groups and a big thank you to all our student performers for a fantastic evening of music. It was an inspiring celebration of student achievement and a testament to the thriving musical culture at our school.
