Enrolment Week 2025

To complete the enrolment, please complete the online form and then make a time for your enrolment interview. Bookings for interviews will open 15 July. You will be able to book an interview time to complete the enrolment process with one of our staff. You can complete the online Enrolment Form at anytime and then book an interview time to complete the process from 15 July onward.

The board have determined the number of out-of-zone places at Year 9 for 2026 will be 40. If you are outside of the school zone, please come along to the enrolment evenings and complete your enrolment in the usual way. You will be advised of your success after the 3 September ballot date.

Enrolment Process for Year 9 2025

Enrolment for Y9 students in 2025. 

Step 1: Complete the Online Enrolment Form

Step 2:  Please email the dean Peter Jefferies on [email protected] to book an enrolment interview.

For all other year levels please contact the Year level Dean for an appointment.

You will need to attend an enrolment interview with your child before you can consider the process complete.

If you have not been able to upload the following documents, please bring them to your interview.

 your son or daughter's birth certificate (or passport), proof of address (eg. utility bill, rates demand etc) and your son or daughter's recent school report.

Students will also select their option subjects and there will be time to discuss any other information you think we need to know about your child and answer any questions you have.

Auckland region 2025 enrolment scheme ballot dates

The Secretary’s Instructions relating to the operation of enrolment schemes require all schools of the same type (eg primary, secondary) with enrolment schemes to set common dates for the selection of out of zone enrolments. 

Following consultation with the Auckland Secondary School Principals’ Association and the Auckland Primary Principals’ Association, the dates below for secondary, intermediate and primary schools for the Auckland region have been endorsed.
   

Enrolment Zone

Students who live within the school zone are entitled to a place at Rutherford College.

The Rutherford College home zone shall be bounded by a line running from Huruhuru Creek along the centres of Triangle Road, Lincoln Road, Mt Lebanon Lane, the railway line, View Road, Great North Road and Hepburn Road to the corner of Akatea Road and thence directly ahead down the southern boundary of Hepburn Park to the Whau River, then north along the shoreline of Te Atatu Peninsula back to Triangle Road bridge over the HuruHuru Creek.

Out of Zone Enrolment Information

Number of places for 2026 - 40 (Year 9) Other Year levels on a case by case basis depending on availability

Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:

  • First Priority: This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.
  • Second Priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
  • Third Priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
  • Fourth Priority: will be given to any applicants who are a child of a former student of the school.
  • Fifth Priority: will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
  • Sixth Priority: will be given to all other applicants.

Applicants seeking second or third priority status will be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
