Rutherford College's Kotuku Brass proudly represented the school at the NZCT Chamber Music Contest
On Friday 5 June, Rutherford College's Kotuku Brass proudly represented the school at the NZCT Chamber Music Contest held at Diocesan School Performing Arts Centre.
The brass quartet, made up of Fabian Fabricius, Nico Curran, Aiden Maslen, and Harry Donald, performed alongside some of Auckland's most talented young musicians in one of New Zealand's premier secondary school chamber music events. Their performance showcased not only their musical ability but also the teamwork, discipline, and commitment required to perform successfully as a chamber ensemble.
Under the mentorship of former Rutherford College Head Boy and accomplished trumpeter Sang Hyun Kim, the group worked tirelessly throughout the year to prepare for the competition. The experience provided the students with an invaluable opportunity to perform in a professional setting, receive feedback from expert adjudicators, and develop their confidence as musicians.
The Music Department is extremely proud of the dedication and perseverance demonstrated by Fabian, Nico, Aiden, and Harry. Their participation in the NZCT Chamber Music Contest reflects the growing strength of chamber music at Rutherford College and highlights the opportunities available for students to challenge themselves through high-level musical performance.
Congratulations to Kotuku Brass on their performance and for representing Rutherford College with pride, professionalism, and excellence.
