Engineering Pathways Pilot Programme

Engineering Pathways Pilot Programme

This year, Waitākere College joined with Rutherford College and Massey High School in a new pilot programme for senior students interested in Engineering, Plumbing, and Electrical trades.

Over eight weeks each term, selected Year 13 students took part in 2-hour after-school workshops, learning practical skills and gaining real-world industry experience. Students chosen for the programme were already on a university pathway into engineering.

A highlight was a recent trip where 11 of our students, along with 5 from Rutherford College, visited the Engineering faculties at the University of Auckland, AUT, and Unitec. They heard from lecturers, explored the campuses, and gained a valuable understanding of what each university offers.

This experience has given our students fresh insight and inspiration as they prepare for their future studies and careers in engineering.
